Celebrating a Major Broadband Milestone
It was a beautiful day to celebrate a major milestone! On June 17, local residents, Mason PUD 3 staff, state broadband officials, and community partners gathered at Lake Arrowhead for the Cloquallum Communities Fiberhood ribbon cutting.
The event marked years of planning, funding, and construction work to bring fast, reliable fiber internet access to more than 680 customers in the Cloquallum area. Supported by funding from the Washington State Broadband Office, this project is transforming connectivity for rural residents by providing access to unlimited gigabit-speed internet service.
The celebration included remarks from Commissioner Jeff McHargue, Broadband Manager Mike Rientjes, and Fire District 13 Assistant Chief Tami Donovan, who shared how improved connectivity benefits both emergency services and the broader community.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this project a reality. From securing grant funding and designing the network to construction, customer service, and community outreach, this achievement reflects years of dedication and teamwork. Together, we're helping expand broadband opportunities across Mason County and keeping our communities connected.
