Mason PUD 3 to be on the Discovery Channel
Yesterday, you may have seen some unfamiliar faces and some guys shooting some video around the Johns Prairie Operations Center. NoaNet, a public-benefit wholesale telecommunications organization (of which PUD 3 is a founding member) was approached by the Viewpoint Project to shoot a short-film on bridging the digital divide in rural communities. Naturally (wink-wink), NoaNet thought of Mason PUD 3 to partner with on this project. This seven-minute segment will air on the Discovery Channel in between full length shows.
PUD 3 commissioner, Linda Gott, spoke on camera in addition to the State’s Emergency Management Director of 9-1-1 Services and NoaNet leadership about the importance of deploying rural broadband. PUD 3’s Comm Tech, Brad Hanson, performed an actual fiber drop to the home on film with the help of the PUD’s new Utility Electrician, Ken DeHart. The team took footage in and around the PUD’s facilities, including a stop at a PUD Wi-Fi Hotspot.
We want to thank everyone who participated yesterday for representing Mason PUD 3 so well, not only to our partners at NoaNet, but to the nation, once the segment airs.
