Need Volunteer Hours for the New Incentive Policy?
There is definitely not a shortage of need in Mason County for volunteers, however if you are trying to get your hours accumulated prior to the October 31 deadline for the incentive program, Here are a few options:
Shuck & Share -
When: October 6 at 8 a.m. | Contact Wendi Kirk at extension 2245 to volunteer
The event is on Sunday morning of OysterFest weekend. All entries include free admission to OysterFest after the race. There are tons of raffle prizes from local businesses. All proceeds for the event go towards Project Share.
Oysterfest -

Wine Tasting: (3hr shifts) -
There are two volunteer roles in the Wine Tasting venue: sales and door monitors.
Door Monitors - greet people, make sure no one is taking wine out of the wine tasting tent and ensure all entering have already received 21 & over ID bracelets. Plenty of opportunities as they exist today:
Saturday: 9:30a to 12p (2 slots); 12p - 3p (2 slots); 3p - 6p (4 slots)
Sunday: 9:30a to 12p (4 slots); 12p - 3p (4 slots); 3p - 5p (2 slots)
Sales - We sell tickets for wine tasting, glasses, and bottles of wine. The more tickets sold the more glasses and bottles we sell. A variety of openings still available:
Saturday - 9:30a - 12:30p; May have 1 or 2 openings 12p - 3p (but may have those filled)
Sunday - 10a - 1p (2 slots); 3p - 6p (1 slot); 12p - 4p (may be 5 openings (waiting on a group of 8 people that may fill all sales and volunteer slots)
Gates - (2hr - 2-1/2hr shifts)
Gate monitors take tickets at the main entrance to the event.

Habitat for Humanity Wall Raising
When: September 15 | Contact Lynn Eaton at extension 5295 to volunteer
The wall raising for Habitat House 31 with Habitat for Humanity is September 15. Registration for new volunteers will begin at 8:30. Work begins at 9:00. These are always such fun and rewarding projects to do as a PUD team!
Math Motivators
When: Tuesdays @ 2:30 p.m. | Contact Mary Taylor-Monger at extension 5200 to volunteer
Starting in September the Math Motivators group is looking for math professionals to tutor math skills for low-income high school students on a 2:1 basis (2 students 1 tutor). The sessions will last 60-90 minutes at the high school. Contact Mary for the registration form.
