Mason County and PUD 3 was in the spotlight today for a statewide celebration of free, public Wi-Fi hotspots to help rural students and community members who don’t have reliable access to broadband. PUD 3 is connecting 21 new sites throughout the county: www.pud3.org/wifi. Eventually, 100 similar hotspots will be deployed throughout Washington state.

PUD 3 welcomed Kim Wyman, Washington Secretary of State to Skookum Hall as she participated in an online media event to salute public utility districts and others who are taking the initiative to set up the hotspots. Also participating in the Mason County presentation was Doug Sells, a teacher at Oakland Bay Jr. High and representative of Skookum Hall.
