VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Looking for volunteers to do community outreach on Friday January 26
Volunteers needed for the Point in Time count (PIT). PIT is a homeless census that takes places once per year.. It’s used as a measurement tool to help guide the investment of federal, state, and local funding.
What to expect - community outreach for the PIT census: Teams of volunteers meet around 6am on Friday, January 26 for community-based outreach covering all of Mason County. Volunteers will go to homeless camps, parking lots, park and rides, and drive through our county to locate individuals that may have been experienced homelessness on the night of Thursday January 25. This includes those who have slept outside, in locations that are not habitable for humans such as boats, RVs, abandoned buildings, cars etc. The outreach teams ask individuals to answer several census questions.
PIT Training Session and Sign-up: To volunteer please join the zoom training on Thursday, January 18 at 10am.This meeting will discuss how to fill out the census survey and other helpful outreach information (link below).
PLEASE NOTE: the training session on January 18 is during regular business hours. Please, contact your supervisor regarding the training or arrange to take PTO. Community Engagement Policy section 8.3
