Retirement Announcement - Congratulations Brian!
Please join us in congratulating Brian Schneidmiller as he begins his retirement journey on July 16, 2026, after 20 years of dedicated service with PUD 3!
Brian began his career with PUD 3 in 2006 as a GIS Technician. He was later promoted to a CAD Technician II and, in 2016, became the District’s first Joint Use Specialist. With Brian’s expertise and leadership, the position evolved into the Joint Use Administrator role in 2018.
During his time in Joint Use, Brian played a key role in guiding the District through the modernization of the program and navigating some challenging situations with licensees. His efforts helped establish a new Pole Attachment License Agreement and updated Joint Use Standards. These business relationships can often present competing interests and complex challenges, but Brian consistently handled them with professionalism while keeping the best interest of the District and its ratepayers at the forefront. His dedication to accurate record keeping and thorough auditing of attachments was particularly noteworthy.
Brian was instrumental in helping to launch the District’s Pole Inspection Test & Treat (PITT) program, which has done a lot to help preserve District assets and identify issues before they turn into outages. The result is a significant improvement in reliability and safety, while delivering cost-effective service to our customers.
More recently, Brian launched our fire wrap program, which helps to harden the electric grid in the face of the growing threat of wildfires. This work helps to keep the water flowing and emergency communications active for our community and first responders when fires occur near PUD poles. Brian’s contributions have had a lasting impact on the District, and his work is something all Mason PUD 3 customers can be proud of and grateful for.
While Brian will be greatly missed, we know he is looking forward to spending more time pursuing his true passions, including working on his farm, caring for his animals and enjoying life outside of work. In recent years, he has also become involved in a vintage motorcycle racing club and has enjoyed traveling to the different tracks throughout the region.
If you do not have an opportunity to see Brian before his last day, please feel free to reach out and wish him the very best as he begins this exciting new chapter.
